Holiday Programme

Holiday programmes in Kayamandi, Cloetesville and Jonkershoek:

Prochorus is committed to safe guarding the community and ensuring that the Children in the communities where we intent to impact change are not at risk. Unfortunately most of the children in these communities spend their holidays without the necessary supervision or care. Thus, Prochorus hosts a fun and interactive holiday programme in Kayamandi, Cloetesville and Jonkershoek to mitigate this risk. The programme hosted about 150 children. Above providing the necessary care and supervision, the programme caters for the basic needs of the children and includes a feeding scheme, to ensure total care of the children in the community during holiday breaks.

Fundraiser in local mall

Fundraising in the Eikestad Mall:

In partnership with Cyrus Trust Prochorus hosted a four-day fundraiser in the local mall in Stellenbosch. All our Stellenbosch region staff had the opportunity to represent Prochorus at this event. The purpose was to gain more funding for Prochorus from individuals by requesting them to sign a debit order and become a monthly donor. About 15 people signed debit orders. We also focused on building the Prochorus brand in Stellenbosch and sharing the heart of the organisation with those who had not heard of us. This event was very successful. If you would like to become a donor by signing a debit order, please fill out this form and send it back to us. We would love to have you on board.

Support a school child project:

One of the most precious things in life is to see how someone’s life changes. At Prochorus we have the privilege to see that very often. Some of these stories come out of our support-a-school-child project. Most of these children come out of homes that are severely under-resourced. This unfortunately inhibits their success in life, despite being given the opportunity to attend school. We primarily provide them with resources such as stationary, school clothes and shoes, food, clothes in general. In the beginning of the year one of the boys that we have supported since he was in Primary School has gone off the University of the Western Cape – where he received bursary. Another one of our children received a bursary at the University of Stellenbosch. These are but a few of our success stories. Currently we have about 15 children on this project, but we do have a waiting list for more children that need help. The need is great and we currently have more children than we have donors. If you would like to become a part of this wonderful initiative, please feel free to contact us at info@prochorus.org

Foodparcel project

Food parcel project:

Many South African’s in local communities are unable to work for reasons such as illness. Thus the issue of hunger becomes a more complex problem than we realize. The unemployment in these communities are high and as an organisation we are committed to being a part of the solution. Prochorus provides about 130 families with a food parcel every month in Kayamandi and Franschhoek -to alleviate the burden of the risk of unemployment in these communities. Above this we assist these families in finding employment as well as providing them with skills through our skills training programme for home management. If you would like to become involved in this project specifically, you can donate a food parcel every month for only R 150. For more information, email info@prochorus.org

Mandela day _

Mandela Day:

Mandela day was on the last day of our holiday programme and Bester Feed and Grain and Gray Swan Investments came to Prochorus to spend time with the children. Bester Feed and Grain went to the Kayamandi playgroups and Gray Swan Investments to Little Builders playgroup in Cloetesville. They blessed the children with lunch as well as some educational toys and stationary for the playgroups. In Jonkershoek we hosted a netball clinic. The turn up was great and even though the weather conditions were quite chilly we had so much fun! The day was a lot of fun and it was ended off by an inspiring talk by Shirvone Reent and Cecil Afrika who are both elite athletes.
