At Prochorus Khanya, our mission is to empower communities through leadership development and holistic support. Rooted in local partnerships and driven by compassion, we initiate sustainable projects that address real needs in under-resourced areas.
Our vision is to raise community leaders who transform their environments and lead others into hope and opportunity. With the support of dedicated volunteers, skilled project leaders, and generous donors, we run a range of impactful programs.
Each of the projects is led by passionate individuals embedded in the communities they serve, ensuring long-term impact and relational care. Together, these initiatives reflect our belief that transformation happens when people are equipped and supported to lead change.

Home-based Disability Care
It is managed by two fully trained woman as the Carers. They are responsible for more than 15 children at different homes. Some of the children have Cerebral palsy. They need special care because they need to be looked after most of the time.
It is a challenge for the parents because it hinders them from finding jobs, as they need to take care of their children’s needs. Most of those parents are single mothers. Some mothers could neglect their children due to the challenges they face almost every day. It is helpful for the Carers to be there because they have access to the social workers who are able to assess the child and process paperwork for a child to be placed at a care facility, at a school and also assist in receiving a disability grant for daily needs.
The grant application process can be quite lengthy, as it involves numerous requirements that must be met before approval.
In the long term, we plan to build a Care Centre for children with disabilities, to have a home that will provide a safe environment for them.
The Care Centre will have Carers who are fully trained, provide all the necessary therapy, parental support, a safe and healthy environment, as well as healthy cooked meals
Current needs:
- Wheel chairs
- Proper beds for the children
- Nappies and wet wipes
- Bedding and towels
- Monthly grocery for cooked meals, and milk for the children who cannot eat solid food due to their condition.
- Medical Aid Kit
- Gloves, aprons, and masks for Carers.
- Transport for the children when they go for check-ups at the hospitals, and to collect their medication.

Community Welfare
Our community welfare initiative includes counselling and ministry. The leaders who run this initiative mostly visit families that stay alone and have no one to look after them, mostly elderly people. They are visited at least once a week for encouragement and prayers. Those who are bedridden are visited daily so that the Carer can prepare meals and help to feed them, bathe them and also do their laundry. She usually takes them to the clinic for their appointments and to collect medication.
There are a lot of people in the community who do not have food, so there is a need for food parcels so that they can have a cooked meal.
Current needs:
- Toiletries
- Food parcels
- Transport for clinic visits

Youth Sports Development
Running soccer coaching and matches for under-16 boys, building teamwork, discipline, and a positive outlet for energy.
De Doorns, an extremely impoverished community with a very high level of crime and drug abuse.
The name of the football team is Shining Team, established in 2014 to share hope and the Good News with children, keeping them effectively occupied and focused, thereby helping to eradicate crime and drug abuse in the community.
Despite its challenges, the team and children are growing in their knowledge of soccer and various critical life skills. Two coaches run the teams, one focuses on small children and the other on youth. The one coach is working as a shepherd in De Doorns. He has a sincere love for children and football. When he is not looking after the sheep, he is looking after the team of boys, ensuring they are well-prepared for life and any upcoming matches.
We meet twice a week for mentoring classes, and also during weekends at the local field, for games.
Current needs:
- Soccer clothes and equipment
- Food
- Transport
